AN EXTRAORDINARY Evening in the Manzanita Grove

On July 13th, we welcomed our valued HHR wine club members to an extraordinary dinner under the sprawling canopy of our 200-year-old Manzanita grove. This wasn’t just any dinner—it was an event that celebrated the bond we share with our community and showcased the passion behind every bottle of wine we produce.

Perched at nearly 1,900 feet, the Manzanita grove offered breathtaking panoramic views of the western mountain range and the vineyards nestled below. The ancient trees, with their red bark gleaming in the fading sunlight, provided a rustic yet elegant backdrop for the evening’s festivities. It was the first time we hosted a Wine Club Member Appreciation Dinner this year, and we wanted to make it a truly memorable occasion.

The setting, though remote, added a special touch of intimacy. Without modern conveniences like electricity or running water, our team embraced the challenge, transforming the grove into a warm, inviting space with the help of electric trucks that powered the evening. Chef Mack Kuyper, known for his creative culinary talents, used his legendary “Voltron” BBQ rig to prepare a feast that perfectly matched the evening’s rustic elegance. It was a night of great food, fine wine, and shared memories under the stars—a true reflection of the community spirit at Hawks Hill Ranch.

Pouring at the Pony Club: Behind the Vines

Just two months later, on September 11th, we took our wines to the Pony Club Bar and Lounge for a special event called "Behind the Vines." It was an evening where our newest releases took center stage, and guests had the chance to taste some of our most exciting wines, including the 2021 Moth to Flame, 2021 Liquidity, and 2021 Fat Finger.

What made this event truly special was the opportunity for attendees to meet and chat with our owner, Kit Kuyper, and our talented winemakers. They shared not only the wines but also the stories behind them—the dedication, the challenges, and the vision that goes into every bottle. Events like this are part of what makes the Paso Robles wine community so unique: the chance to connect directly with the people who bring these wines to life.

On October 19th, Hawks Hill Ranch will take part in an exciting event at Somm's Kitchen—an Educational Speed-Tasting alongside fellow wineries Brecon Estate, Dilecta Wines, and Absolution Cellars. This fast-paced event offers a fun and immersive way to experience some of the finest wines in the region.

The format of the event makes it an ideal opportunity for wine enthusiasts to sample a wide range of wines, learn about their origins, and hear the unique stories behind each bottle.
